Re: Interbase 5?

Hello Fr0sT,

I agree, we don't need support for Internase 5. I suggest to drop it with Zeos 7.3.

Re: TZPgEventAlerter and connection problems

This starts to get confusing with all the Interbase and PostgreSQl stuff being mixed. Actually I examined IBX code and it seems Zeos' ZIBEventAlerter.pas code is almost 100% copy of IBEvents.pas... o_O I'm really unsure this is OK without even a note in unit header. Probably both versions ar...

Re: TZPgEventAlerter and connection problems

Hello Wild_Pointer, Fr0st, (had to change extension .diff to .txt, diff seems to be considered invalid extension in the forum). I added diff to be an allowed extension now. Regarding the patch: I suggest to use CheckPostgreSqlError from ZDBCPostgreSqlUtils.pas to check for errors. It does several th...

Re: About network access to DB

Hello OsquiVilla, that could have to do with file locking semantics on Windows. But honestly I don't know. I assume you are using SQLite? You might have more success with asking that question on the sqlite-users mailing list: http://mailinglists.sqlite.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/sqlite-users Gener...

Re: ParamByName in Master/Detail

Hello Vejrous, usually I implement that kind of thing on my own in the after scroll event of the master dataset and in the before post of the detail dataset. But there is a (possibly outdated) documentation on how to use master - detail in Zeos. Take a look at the Documentation Collection , Topic &q...

Re: Access violation when reopening form Zeoslib 7.1.4

Hello Alancj, if the problems persist even though you tried your luck with Zeos 7.2, there are some things you could do: - generate a stack trace with MadExcept or the Exception handling window in the Jedi Code Library. - create a small sample program that triggers the bug. We could use that program...

Re: MySQL has gone away

Hello Alancj,

the "MySQL server has gone away" message usually means thet the server has dropped the connection for some reason. This is nothung, Zeos can manage. There are several posts on stackoverflow about this issue, some suggestiong modifications of timeouts.

Re: SELECT UNION truncate string fields at 510 character

Hello OsquiVilla, duh - hmm - the best answer would be to use another database - Firebird for example ;) SQLite is a bit of a hard case since from a Zeos / Delphi point of view it doesn't have Varchar fields at all, only Memo fields... That said - Zeos tries to emulate Varchar fields by truncating S...

Re: How to identify primary key field(s)

Hello Ertan,

(Uncached)GetPrimaryKeys is part of the DBC layer. It might be more easy to use the TZMetadata component. It works like a query. Set the metadata you want to retrive to primary key. Set the table name to your desired table name. Call the open method.

Re: PostgreSQL - cannot insert multiple commands into a prepared statement

Hello Fr0st, having \ as an escape character can be right and can be wrong. It depends on the setting of "standard_conforming_strings" in the server. And wether the string constant is preceeded by an E. For more details on the PostgreSQL string madness ... erm... syntax see here, section4....

Re: PostgreSQL - cannot insert multiple commands into a prepared statement

Hello Ertan,

I can confirm this bug. It is a problem in the parser. If you remove the line that tries to insert '\', the script works.
